How to Fill Lip Balm Tubes

Prep: Before making your lip balm mixture, set up the tubes uncapped on a solid surface like a cutting board, counter, or table protected with a sheet of parchment paper. Melted wax can be difficult to clean up, so do not pour your mixture over a delicate surface like a cherished wooden kitchen table. Wax hardens quickly, so prepping the tubes ahead of time helps you fill them smoothly.

Pour: When your lip balm mixture is at the pouring stage, carefully pour the mixture into the tubes. Fill each tube to the top and avoid overfilling to prevent a mess. Use a flat utensil to scrape and level the tops of your lip balm for a clean look. We recommend using a Lip Balm Filling Tray (available in our store) to fill multiple lip balm tubes at once. When finished, cap the tubes and let the wax settle before moving on to the next step.

Label & Seal: Personalize your filled tubes with your labels. Once the tubes are decorated, place the tamper-proof PVC shrink wraps over each individual tube. Before using heat, be sure the shrink wrap overlaps the cap slightly to properly seal it. Apply heat using a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting, gently rotating the heat source or lip balm to evenly heat the shrink wrap. Keep rotating to prevent wrinkles, puckering, or burning the wrap. Allow the tube to cool and trim off any excess shrink wrap if needed.
